Kiratoru

Privacy Policy

Last updated June 2026

Kiratoru is built to be private by design. The short version: the app does not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data. Everything you capture and look up stays on your device.

What the app processes

Text recognition (OCR), Japanese morphological analysis, and dictionary lookups all run locally on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. The dictionary and analyzer are bundled with the app, so lookups work entirely offline. Images and text you capture are processed on-device and are not uploaded anywhere.

What we store

Your saved words, kanji, decks, and study progress are stored locally on your device (and, if you enable it, in your personal iCloud account, which only you can access). We have no servers that receive or hold this data.

Payments

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We never see your payment details. Apple's handling of purchase data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

This website

This marketing site uses privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to count anonymous page views. It does not track you across sites, build a profile, or collect personally identifiable information.

Children

Kiratoru is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the “last updated” date above.
